The Problem: Whack-A-Mole!

Your tech challenges are hiding
under the surface.
Let us root them out.

Most small businesses spend their energy putting out IT fires on a daily basis — playing Whack-A-Mole with problems as they pop up. Meanwhile, deep-rooted issues fester underneath: security gaps, runaway licensing, antiquated processes, and now a tidal wave of AI that nobody has a plan for. At mole-tek, we dig past the symptoms and fix the foundation.

🤖

AI Is Here — Whether You're Ready or Not

Your employees are already using ChatGPT, Copilot, and Gemini on company work. Without a strategy, that means proprietary data, client information, and business decisions flowing into systems you don't control and can't audit. We help you get ahead of it.

🧭

Everyone Wants AI Productivity — Nobody Knows Where to Start

Business owners know AI should be making their teams faster and smarter. The hard part is figuring out exactly where, and how. We map your real workflows and identify where AI creates genuine gains versus where it's just hype dressed up in a pitch deck.

🌫️

You're Flying Without Instruments

No IT director, no roadmap, decisions made reactively when something breaks or when a vendor calls with a compelling pitch. That's not a strategy — and it's costing you more than you know. The AI vendors are calling now. Do you have someone you trust to evaluate what they're selling?

AI Adoption & Strategy

Everyone's talking about AI.
Nobody's telling you what to actually do with it.

The pressure to adopt AI is real. The path forward isn't. We help small businesses cut through the noise, answer the hard questions, and build an AI approach that actually fits their operation.

AI-Forward Consulting

Your competitors are experimenting with AI right now.
The businesses that figure it out first will be hard to catch.

AI isn't a future problem — it's a right now problem. The good news: you don't need to rip everything up and start over. You need someone to dig into your specific workflows, identify the highest-impact opportunities, set the right guardrails, and get your team equipped to use it effectively. That's exactly what we do.

Start Your AI Conversation

Where does AI actually fit in our business?

We walk through your real day-to-day workflows — not a generic industry template — and identify where AI creates genuine time savings, where it reduces error, and where it genuinely shouldn't be trusted yet. You get a prioritized map, not a vendor wishlist.

Should we deploy Microsoft Copilot?

Copilot costs $30/user/month and most businesses aren't ready to get value from it — not because the tool is bad, but because the foundation isn't there. We'll tell you exactly what you need in place first, whether the math works for your size, and what to expect when you flip the switch.

What data are our employees feeding into AI tools?

This is the question you need answered before anything else. Employees pasting client data, financial information, and proprietary processes into consumer AI tools is already happening at most companies. We assess your exposure and build the policies and controls to close that gap without killing productivity.

How do we stop AI from hallucinating wrong answers into our operations?

AI gets things wrong confidently — and that's dangerous in a business context. We build the review workflows, output verification habits, and appropriate human-in-the-loop checkpoints that keep your team from trusting AI outputs they shouldn't. Guardrails aren't optional; they're the whole game.

Our team is using AI, but are they using it effectively?

Effective prompting is a skill most people have never been taught. The average employee is getting 20–30% of what AI can actually deliver because they're asking the wrong questions in the wrong way. We train your team to communicate with AI tools properly — and the productivity difference is immediately visible.

How do we create an AI policy that employees will actually follow?

A policy nobody understands gets ignored. We help you build AI use guidelines that are specific, practical, and tied to real examples from your business — not boilerplate legal language copied from a Fortune 500 template. Your team will know exactly what's acceptable, what isn't, and why.

Ready to stop guessing and start using AI intentionally?

One conversation is all it takes to understand where you stand and what the right first step is for your business.

Talk to a mole About AI

Don't make mountains out of molehills.

After 10+ years working inside managed services — watching vendors upsell, overcomplicate, and create dependency — mole-tek was built to do the opposite. Whether it's AI adoption or a cloud migration, we dig past the noise, tell you what actually matters, and leave you more capable than we found you. Not more reliant on us.

Is This You?

Built for businesses that have outgrown
their current IT situation

No full-time IT director. Tired of getting sold things you don't fully understand. Feeling the pressure to do something with AI but not sure where to start. That's exactly who we work with.

Wants to adopt AI — not sure how Employees already using AI tools informally Evaluating Microsoft Copilot 5–75 employees Growing but cost-conscious Already have an MSP — not sure they're the right one Facing a cloud migration decision Concerned about security gaps Healthcare, legal, or sensitive data Pursuing government contracts (CMMC) Just got a vendor proposal and want a second opinion
IT Foundation Services

The Infrastructure Under Your AI Ambitions

AI runs on top of your existing technology. If that foundation is shaky — misconfigured, over-licensed, or unprotected — it doesn't matter how good the AI tools are. We make sure the foundation is solid first.

Your vendors know what's broken.
They just don't have a reason to tell you.

Every engagement is fully independent. No hardware sales. No software resale. No referral kickbacks. We have one incentive: give you advice that actually helps — because that's the only way this practice sustains itself.

🗺️

IT Strategy & Roadmap

Technology assessment, prioritization, and a plain-language roadmap for businesses without a clear IT direction. Increasingly, that roadmap includes an AI adoption sequence — what to tackle first, what to defer, and what to stop doing entirely.

☁️

Cloud Migration Analysis

Before you commit a dollar, we model the real costs, map the real risks, and give you a phased migration plan. Not the vendor's version of the plan. Yours. And yes — cloud-first environments are significantly easier to integrate with AI tools.

🛡️

Microsoft 365 Tenant Evaluation

Deep audit of your M365 environment — Entra ID, Exchange Online, Intune, Teams, license utilization. A properly configured M365 tenant is also the prerequisite for Copilot. Most clients find immediate wins before the report is finished.

📋

Compliance Gap Analysis

HIPAA, NIST, CMMC — we cut through the alphabet soup and tell you what actually applies. AI adoption adds new compliance considerations most frameworks haven't fully caught up to yet. We help you navigate both the existing requirements and the emerging ones.

Need ongoing guidance?

Hourly advisory and staff coaching available for businesses that need senior-level technology leadership — including AI strategy and user training — without the overhead of a full-time hire.

More Questions We Hear Constantly

The technology changes. The confusion doesn't. Here's how we think about the questions that come up on nearly every first call.

Do we have to move everything to the cloud at once?

Almost never. We map a phased approach — what can move now, what needs preparation, and what might legitimately stay on-prem. Worth noting: the cloud is where most AI tools actually live, so this decision and your AI plans are connected.

Our MSP says we need a $50k upgrade. Is that real?

Maybe. Or maybe they're padding. We'll review the proposal, validate what's actually needed, and tell you what you can defer, renegotiate, or skip entirely. The second opinion service pays for itself more often than not.

Is Microsoft 365 worth what we're paying for it?

Depends what you're using. Most tenants we audit are accessing 40–60% of what they're licensed for. We find the waste, activate what matters, and evaluate whether the Copilot AI add-on actually makes sense for your team at this stage.

How do we handle scammers, spammers, and phishing?

Your cybersecurity starts with your people — and AI is making phishing dramatically more convincing. Attackers are using the same tools you're considering. We combine the right technical controls with real user training so your team can recognize what's coming at them.

Is the cloud actually more secure than on-prem?

It can be — but not by default. Security is a shared responsibility, and most breaches happen in configuration gaps, not at the perimeter. We'll show you where your actual exposure is — and it's probably not where you think.

What about our legacy server-based software?

Legacy apps are the sticking point in most migrations. We assess your options — cloud hosting, virtualization, replacement — and lay out the real cost of each path. We'll also flag which legacy tools have AI-capable successors worth evaluating.

Could we survive a ransomware attack today?

Honest answer: most businesses we talk to aren't sure. Backups exist somewhere, but can they be restored? How long would it take? We help you pressure-test your recovery plan before it becomes a real question — not a real disaster.

How would we even know if we'd been breached?

Most organizations wouldn't — not for weeks or months. We assess your visibility gaps and recommend monitoring that makes sense for your budget and size. Not enterprise-grade theater. Practical coverage.

Are we meeting compliance requirements?

HIPAA, NIST, CMMC — the frameworks are complex by design. We cut through it and tell you exactly what applies, where the gaps are, and what's worth fixing first. AI tools are now introducing new data handling obligations that most compliance frameworks are just beginning to address.

The mole-tek Approach

We Don't Sell Anything Except Advice

No hardware. No software licenses. No referral fees. No preferred AI vendors we're incentivized to steer you toward. In an industry where everyone has something to sell you — including AI products they earn commissions on — that independence matters more than ever.

After spending a decade inside managed services — responsible for the technology decisions of dozens of businesses at a time, across hundreds of clients throughout that career — Jason built mole-tek to be the thing that didn't exist when he needed it: a genuinely independent voice in the room. That's especially important right now, when everyone from your MSP to your software vendors to your internet provider is trying to sell you their version of AI.

About

The Person Behind the Consultancy

The Short Version

Jason Muhlberger founded mole-tek solutions after a decade-plus in IT — most of it spent watching business owners get buried by jargon, spooked by overblown threats, and sold solutions they didn't need by vendors who had no incentive to do otherwise. Responsible for the technology health of dozens of businesses simultaneously at his peak, he served hundreds of clients across industries throughout that career. He built mole-tek to give the people paying for all of it someone actually in their corner.

Today that mission extends directly into AI. Every week, business owners are making consequential decisions about AI tools, AI policies, and AI investments — without a trusted independent advisor to tell them what's real. That's the gap mole-tek was built to close.

The Philosophy

Too many MSPs and vendors act as gatekeepers — hoarding knowledge, manufacturing complexity, and pricing guidance behind retainers and relationships. That dynamic is getting worse with AI, where the incentive to sell products is enormous and the ability for business owners to evaluate what they're being told is limited. mole-tek was built to work the other way: plain language, honest assessment, and a deliberate focus on leaving clients more capable and more informed than we found them.

We don't sell hardware. We don't resell licenses. We don't take referral fees. We don't earn commissions on AI products. The only model that works here is one where the advice is actually good.

The Background

Jason's been in front of a computer longer than he'd like to admit — launching games from 5.25" floppy disks via DOS command line before he could fully read, tearing apart hardware long before it was professionally useful. That obsession eventually turned into a career, and the career eventually produced the kind of pattern recognition that makes this work valuable.

More than a decade of professional IT experience across MSP environments, diverse industry verticals, and client situations that ranged from "we've never had a strategy" to "we're being audited next month" built a working understanding of both the technical and organizational sides of these problems. The technology changes fast. The patterns of confusion and bad decisions don't. mole-tek was built around that insight — and AI is just the latest version of a story that's been playing out for 30 years.

No wall of certifications. Just a track record of problems actually solved, clients who got what they paid for, and work that speaks for itself.

Outside the Tunnel

When he's not buried in configurations, policies, and AI workflows, Jason is a dedicated father to a blended family, a world traveler, a rancher at heart with family roots on a farm in the Carolinas, and an unapologetic technology and gaming enthusiast. The screen time doesn't stop after hours. It just gets more enjoyable.
